A Continuing Resolution of Chaos: Congressman John James and Tom Barrett Are Repeatedly Failing Michigan’s Working Class
Today, House Republicans voted on a funding bill that keeps the government from shutting down until September 30th by siding with unelected billionaires, and kicking Michiganders out of their homes.
Michigan Families for Fair Care Executive Director Steve Lawson issued the following statement:
“This Continuing Resolution (CR) vote makes it clear that Representatives John James and Tom Barrett are not interested in making life more affordable for Michiganders. The CR allows Trump's tariffs and trade war to continue unchecked by Congress, driving up already high prices for working American families and pushing the economy closer to a recession. By voting in favor of the resolution, House Republicans put Social Security in peril, cut food programs for thousands of seniors, and slashed rent subsidies for low-income housing. We need real fighters in Washington that aren’t out-of-touch with their district’s needs, or acting as cheerleaders to dangerous economic policy. Unfortunately Reps. James and Barrett’s actions show us that this is a preamble to the billions of Medicaid cuts they plan on making to fund their billionaire tax cut.”
