PHOTOS: Michigan Families for Fair Care Launches Campaign to Advocate for Rep. James to Vote with Working Families
MACOMB, MICHIGAN- Yesterday, on the heels of President Biden speaking to a group of UAW workers about the importance of investing in working families in the middle class, State Representative Denise Mentzer, along with other Michigan residents, gathered for the launch of Michigan Families for Fair Care, an advocacy campaign with the goal of educating the residents of MI-10 on the impact of Congressman John James’ voting record and his stances on issues affecting his district. At the event, held at The Dovetail in Warren, residents highlighted how Rep. James is siding with the ultra-wealthy and big corporations instead of focusing on the economic and health care issues that will benefit his constituents.

Michigan Families For Fair Care Executive Director Steve Lawson:
“This event is for our organization to show that we are here to show constituents how Congressman John James is constantly looking out for big Pharma instead of working on legislation that can bring affordable health care to Michiganders. Michigan Families for Fair Care is here to provide his constituents with information on the real-world consequences of the votes that Congressman James has cast and serve as an avenue for constituents to talk about how those votes would impact their day-to-day lives. Michiganders’ representatives should pick the people over corporations.”
State Representative, Denise Mentzer
"John James voted to send our hard-earned dollars to multi-billion-dollar corporations. [...] Instead of making sure everyone pays their fair share, he voted to defund the IRS and make it easier for rich people to cheat on their taxes."
George Higgins,Organizer, For Our Future Action Fund
“John James continues to do a disservice to his constituents like me in his strident opposition to student loan forgiveness despite his own business receiving millions in PPP loans that were forgiven. It seems to be one set of rules for the rich and well-connected and another set of rules for everyday working people here in Macomb County.”
Jocelyn Howard, Warren Resident
“Daily, I experience students who struggle between academics and hunger. As educators, we create small food packages to help eliminate a growling stomach in our classrooms. Our representatives in Congress should understand that nutritional food programs are essential to academic learning.”
