Reps. John James And Tom Barrett Are Coming For Our Health Care To Give Tax Breaks To Billionaires

Today, Congressmen John James and Tom Barrett have chosen to side with billionaires and corporations while the hardworking people of Michigan are endlessly barraged with the effects of Donald Trump’s trade war. Now, instead of choosing to help their constituents in their hour of need, they’ve greenlit a policy that vastly benefits the wealthiest Americans at the expense of Medicaid and that further restricts Congress from reining in Donald Trump’s tariffs.

“We’re in trouble. Decisions are being made to help billionaires, but they are not the ones at risk of losing everything right now. Millions of Michiganders could lose their health care and put people in peril of having one accident derail their lives. As someone on Medicaid, I’m worried about what the future will bring. Our district needs Congressman John James to help find solutions to our problems, not contribute to them; now, he’s going to be the deciding vote on whether Medicaid loses billions of dollars. Congressman James: listen to your constituents; don’t give billionaires a tax break paid for by the people of Michigan.”

“Congressman Barrett has been given the opportunity to show what kind of representative he wants to be. He has chosen to be one who sides with billionaires and special interest groups at the expense of the working class. People like me depend on access to Social Security to get by and make ends meet. The good people of Michigan deserve an elected official who will keep their hands off our Social Security access. Millions of Michiganders are waiting for Congressman Tom Barrett to do the right thing.”
