Michigan Families for Fair Care Rebukes The Trump Administration’s Decision To Cut All Federal Assistance Payments
Michiganders are Going to Suffer, Congressman John James, “Don’t Let them Down.”
MACOMB, Michigan — On Monday, the Office of Management and Budget took an unlawful step to deprive the American people of investments passed by Congress that will severely harm Michiganders and Americans nationwide. The Trump administration’s directive could block funding for infrastructure projects, disaster relief, law enforcement activities, suicide prevention hotlines, health services, and nutrition assistance programs like SNAP and WIC.
Jocelyn Howard, Warren Resident and Turnaround School Specialist:
“As an educator and a constituent of Congressman John James’ district, I am urging him to stand on the right side of history. Not just for me and other educators but for the millions of young Michangers, many of whom I teach, who rely on these essential programs to survive and be present in school. By allowing this to happen, what message are we sending our kids? You are saying that you don’t care about the vulnerable lives in your community. How do you explain to a child that there is not a meal for them to eat in the wealthiest nation on earth? Some things are not political, it's about what is moral and humane. Congressman John James, the next generation is looking to you to make the right decision for their future. Don’t let them down. Stand up against attempts to cut funding from our community.”
