Michigan Families For Fair Care Urges Rep. John James To Side With Michiganders Over Billionaires

In an interview released this morning, President-Elect Donald Trump told TIME Magazine that he would be backtracking on his campaign promise to lower grocery prices. Trump told TIME, “It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard.” Unfortunately, it was not hard for the president-elect to tell business leaders a few hours later at the New York Stock Exchange that he would vow to deliver even more corporate tax breaks. Michigan Families for Fair Care is now urging Congressman John James, who represents Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, to prioritize lowering costs for everyday people over padding executives’ wallets.

Steve Lawson, Executive Director of Michigan Families for Fair Care:

“Rep. John James has an opportunity to make it clear whose needs matter most, those of billionaires who have gotten rich by repeatedly inflating the costs of basic goods, or the needs of the hard working people of Michigan who are trying their best to put food on the table. The time to fight for the working class is now, before another Republican Tax Scam is passed at our expense. We learned our lesson in 2017 and for the sake of our country, we urge Congressman James to reject any corporate tax cut and focus on holding Trump accountable to his own promises.”
