President Trump Is Making It Easier For Americans To Get Scammed

Michigan Families for Fair Care Executive Director Steve Lawson issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration taking steps to dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB):

“President Donald Trump made endless promises of lowering costs for Americans on the campaign trail, but at every turn since assuming office, he continues to make decisions to raise costs for working class families. Dismantling the CFPB puts Michiganders at risk of excess fees from credit card companies, increased debt, and businesses who violate consumer protection laws. This is work that Michigan Families for Fair Care has been addressing for months. Working class Michiganders are going to be hurt by the President’s volatile decision-making and our congressman, Rep. John James, remains largely absent from his constituents when he should be showing up to address people’s anxieties.”
