MI-10 Is Speaking: Congressman John James, Listen To Your District
On Tuesday, Fair Share America, Indivisible, and Michigan Families for Fair Care hosted a town hall with over 300 MI-10 constituents who came to hear from their congressman about issues important to them. Representative John James failed to show up to the MRCC Banquet Hall. Attendees had hoped to finally come face-to-face with Rep. James and give him the opportunity to explain his recent votes, which put Medicaid in peril and gave Trump free rein to raise costs and endanger jobs for regular Michiganders, throwing Michigan’s economy in peril.

“You can’t thrust Michiganders into economic uncertainty and raise our costs without expecting the people to ask questions. We were at this town hall to speak with Representative John James and remind him that he is there to represent the people of Warren and Center Line and not cut a deal that favors billionaires. It is obvious that constituents and business owners like myself are worried about tariffs, cuts to Medicaid, and unfair taxes, the least he could do is show up.”
Representative John James, who sits on the Energy and Commerce committee, will soon author a bill deciding the fate of over 2.5 million Michiganders, over 180,000 in his district alone, who rely on Medicaid. House Republicans are planning to cut and slash funding from federal programs, like Medicaid, to fund more tax breaks for billionaires. The only way to get these tax breaks passed would be by severely cutting Medicaid and uprooting hundreds of billions of dollars worth of funding. Experts worry these cuts would leave Michigan with a nearly $2 billion budget shortfall and jeopardize millions of people’s health care access. We heard from residents in Rep. James’ district, and the consensus is that people are worried.
